Age Of Charlemagne Factions

Welcome to!A subreddit for all of those who love the Total War series. Any general campaign tips can apply here:.Try to limit the number of fronts you fight on (doesn't matter about number of factions just get them on one side) so in the case of Charlemagne either peace out with Aquitaine or Danish/Bavarian factions.

This may require you to lose a few provinces but especially with war weariness this is imperative.Look for undefended targets. Obviously main cities are important targets but if there's an undefended minor settlement that could bring the enemy to fight on your terms.Team up on enemies. Always try and use your allies for help.

Granted the AI is trash at this but it's worth a shot and helps massively when it happens. Another aspect of this is paying other factions that dislike your enemy to fight them. This reduces pressure on you and maximizes you ability to fight.Play dirty. This kinda is along the lines of fight on your own terms but one of my favorite tricks is to hide a full stack in the woods in ambush stance just in front another partial stack army.

AI falls for it often enough to give me great wins while minimizing my losses. It depends a lot on what faction you play.1. Danes: Simply start by sacking the settlements to finish the event. Scotland and Wales are not considered a part of England when completing the event, so be careful.

And I think you should start from Northumbria and capture their land as fast as possible, then move South on Mercian land. Keep a Shaman nearby to convert%100 Christian population. You may want to have some puppet states/tribunaries in England, I suggest Mercia or Wessex. They obviously have better rosters. You can levy Horsemen(Actually from any faction around) and puppet army will(hopefully, keep good relations by sending gifts) secure your land.

When you're done with England, go to Wales and Ireland for further invasion(Irish factions are likely to attack when you have a region in Wales) About Scotland, it's up to you, I had offered them puppet state early and they accepted so I had nothing to do there. In late game, you may want to focus on sacking Northern French coast, you can make a lot of money to establish better buildings in your home province. What I did also, was increasing my influence on North German land(I've never seen it conquered by France).I don't like to play with big factions as a classic TW player. So I cannot make any suggestions for France. I enjoy Avars a lot(You get attacked by Bavaria and Bohemia(Sometimes Lombady) at the same time, they're less likely to attack you when you leave the last province of Croatia as puppet state, dunno why) It's really intense and difficult, you can be forced to let your land go and withdraw many times. But that makes it enjoyable.
